Simple Things You Can Do
to Protect Marin's Water and Wildlife
Q. Do you wash your car and truck and throw the soapy water in the street or gutter? OR do you dump your dirty water in the street after cleaning your carpets, floors or upholstery?
A. Soap - even biodegradable - is harmful to some fish and their food supply. For a free brochure on the effects pollutants (including soap) have on marine mammals, call MCSTOPPP's hotline at 485-3363 or e-mail us at mcstoppp@co.marin.ca.us. If you are involved with a community car wash fundraiser, contact MCSTOPPP to borrow their "Fish Friendly Car Wash Kit". It's available to anyone living in Marin. Call MCSTOPPP at 499-6528!
