Who We Are

MCSTOPPP is an acronym for the Marin County Stormwater Pollution Prevention Program. Formed in 1993, MCSTOPPP is a joint effort of Marin's cities, towns and unincorporated areas. Their goal is to:

Though the County and each of the eleven cities and towns carry out their own individual stormwater pollution prevention programs, MCSTOPPP provides for the coordination and consistency of approaches between the individual participants and documents their efforts in annual reports. These reports include information on illegal discharges, street cleaning efforts, creek maintenance, new development, and other issues of concern.

MCSTOPPP was originally funded by the cities, towns and unincorporated areas whose watersheds drain to San Francisco Bay and San Pablo Bay. Later, it was expanded to include all Marin watersheds.

MCSTOPPP is administered by the Marin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District with staffing provided by the Marin County Department of Public Works. A Citizen's Advisory Committee (CAC) provides review and advice. CAC Agendas

At the Agency Staff Comittee (ASC) bi-monthly meetings the local stormwater coordinators meet to review program objectives and implementation.
